We’re

Glad

to

to live by sea

You’ll find the picturesque coastal communities of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands connected by a bridge over the beautiful Boyne River within the Gladstone Region in Central Queensland.
What’s it like to live there? Think relaxed coastal lifestyle vibes, superb beaches, riverside walkways, parklands and plenty of other recreational activities to choose from.
Here’s what a typical day could look like if you made the sea-change:

For the early risers, you can’t beat waking up to the fresh sea breeze and watching the sun rise over the waves at Tannum Sands Main Beach – dependent on the season, this could be anywhere from around 5am in the warmer months to approximately 6.30am in the cooler months.
Take in the scenery of the winding Boyne River and brush up on your turtle facts as you make your around the Turtleway Bikeway.
Be spoilt for choice with a variety of cafes, restaurants and eateries to pick from. Or pack your own snacks and choose from one of many outdoor areas to enjoy a family picnic.
Cast your line in one of the well-known fishing spots in the area or launch the boat and find your own favourite location. The area also hosts Australia’s Biggest Family Fishing Competition, the Boyne Tannum HookUp over the May Day long weekend every year.
Happy to go a little further? Awoonga Dam is only a short drive away in Benaraby but another perfect location for all things fishing (not to mention water fun, in general).
Enjoy a day of sun, sand and salt at Millennium Esplanade and Tannum Sands patrolled surf beach. Wonder what the weather conditions are like? Check the webcam before you go.  With only a small variation in seasonal water temperatures, the waters of Tannum Sands and Boyne Island are perfect for year-round swimming and also popular for watersport enthusiasts.
Kids still got some energy to burn? Let them run it off at one of the many playgrounds in the area!
Got a whole day or even better, a whole weekend to kill – head for a 4WD or camping trip to Lilley’s Beach. Be sure to obtain your permit and check conditions before travelling.
If it happens to be the first Saturday of the month, head along the unmissable Beach Arts Music (BAM) Markets between 2pm and 7pm.
Have FOMO because you missed the sunrise? Make up for it by taking in the stunning sunset views! A sight that you will never tire of regardless of how long you live there.

There are close to 10,000 residents who are lucky enough to call Boyne/Tannum home and so could you! One thing is for sure, you’ll be GLAD you made the sea-change!
